Lord of the rings blog

One scene I enjoyed reading was when Gollum bit the ring off of Frodo and then while dancing around fell into mount doom. I couldnt help but feel that the scene maybe should have been written a little bit differently. I was hoping for a scene that would make Gollum look more like a good guy and instead of biting the ring off to take the ring for himself, maybe take the ring because he saw that Frodo could not get rid of it and then sacrifice his own life for the good of middle earth. I really think that would have been a more climatic finish and would make more sense to what Gandalf said about Gollum playing a role in the end.

Lord of the rings blog

A scene that really stood out to me in lord of the rings was when the mouth of sauron tried to bargain with Gandalf and trade him Frodo and Sam for land. I enjoyed the reaction of Gandalf because althoug he cared so much for Frodo and Sam he new that the protection of middle earth was more important, and he was ready to protect it at all costs. I also think that deep down he new that the orcs did not have Frodo, and that he was ok. This scene I really think should not have been left out of the movie. What also stood out to me is Sams willingness to give up the ring. I know he only had it for a short amount of time but it made it clear that sam is the toughest of the two.

lord of the rings and dreams of terror and death

In lord of the rings many exciting things are going on as the battle for middle earth continues. W hat I especially enjoyed finding out is the fact that even though the men have won some key battles against the orcs, the battle for middle earth is still not over. In the movie it made it seem after the big battle scene that the war was completely over, and that just wasnt the case. It was also very interesting to see the reaction of Denethor and shows just how powerful the enemy is, that it can break down a king. In dreams of terror and death I have been really enjoying the story titled through the gates of the silver key. This story reminded me so much of a movie and when it ended I wanted to say that I guessed it but I really had that the man telling the story was Randolph Carter.

Lord of the rings and dreams of terror and death

In lord of the rings the battle of middle earth is close to beginning. The men of middle earth are forming their armies preparing for the final attack by sauron. A scene that stood out to me is when legolis was asked about aid from the elves. He responded by saying that the elves have aleady fought thier battle the first time sauron came to power. It was interesting to me because in the second movie the elves come to the aid of men at helmes deep. I really think that the elves picking up their arms again would make for a great part of the book and look forward to see what happens next. In dreams of terror and death I especially enjoyed the first assigned story, beyond the wall of sleep. At first it made me wonder if someone can live, or feel they'rer living in a dream world a commit those crimes that joe slater commited in the story. And then finding out that he was actually a being from another planet made me think that the story would make an excellent movie.

Lord of the rings and king of elflands daughter blog

Lord of the rings has gotten very exciting because now it is all about Frodo and Sam. I especially enjoyed the part where the knot comes loose that Sam tied. Frodo assumed that Sam did not tie a good not but he insisted that it did, and it made it obvious that it wasn't a usual rope but instead a magic rope. So far with Go;;um it has been interesting and alot like the movie so easy to picture. I look forward to seeing what happens with Gollum next. In King of Elflands Daughter, it has also been interesting, I really cannot guess what is to happen to Lirazel but I enjoyed the fact that alveric refuses to give up hope and has looked for her for 10 years. I also can't wait to see if Orion displays any powers since he is half from Elfland.

Lord of the Rings and second king of elflands daughter blog

In lord of the rings the two hobbits merry and pippen become introduced to the ents. The ents later decide to go to war against saurumon but in the movie its alot different. In the movie merry and pippen trick treebeard into seeing the devistation of the forest by saurumon, and he gets angry and decides to go to war. In the book he does not need to be trivked but instead knows that saurumon is a threat and must be dealt with. The scene I really liked in the book is when Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolis see Gandalf in the forest. The scene was very suspenseful and very close to the movie so it was easy to picture. In king of elflands daughter Alveric marries lirazel and they have a son. I thought it was interesting that they waited so long to name the kid. I also thought it was so interesting how lirazel has a hard time adapting to erl. Later vanishes from her home in erl, and alveric tries to travel once agein to elfland to bring her back but notices that it is not in the same place.

lord of the rings first king of elflands daughter blog

Many interesting things have happened in lord of the rings, Boromir was corrupted by the ring and was eventually killed by orks, Frodo has gone off with sam, and merry and pippen have been captured by orcs. These scenes I enjoyed comparing to the movie because they were such key scenes. I have to say that the movie really captured those scenes well and really helped me picture the scene when I read it. Anyways now Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolis are chasing after the orcs to find Merry and Pippen and there journey is very unlike the movie and it was cool to really see how the chase unfolded. In king of elflands daughtera man by the name of alveric in order to turn his kindom into magical kingdom travels to elfland to merry the kings daughter. The story line in the first few chapters were very interesting and I couldn't help but notice similarities between it and Lord of the Rings.

lord of the rings and last midsummer blog

In lord of the rings the fellowship is on the brink of dividing; because Gandalf is gone, Boromir is showing his real side and Frodo wandered off by himself. I really enjoyed the scene where Boromir was after the ring because I could remember that scene so well from the movie and I thought they were very similar. Also the scene where Sam runs after Frodo and jumps into the river even when he knows he can't swim. I am really looking forward to see whats in store for Sam and Frodo. In midsummer all the couples are getting married, and Bottum is finally going to put on his play which ends up bein awful. Throughout the entire play the male characters make comments on how horrible the play is. In the end shakspeare reminds everyone with pucks speech of how we are supposed to watch a play.

lord of the rings and midsummer blog

I really enjoyed the lord of the rings chapter when the fellowship traveled through Moria. It was so much more detailed then the movie, but overall as far as that scene goes the movie and the book were very close. I really couldn't tell ant differences from the movie and the book. I especially enjoyed the scene when Gandalf took on the bolrog because in reading it I felt like I was in moria with the fellowship. In midsummer many unusual events have happened. I enjoyed the scene when puck turned bottums head into a donkey and oberon forced titania to fall in love with him, but I was a little disgusted as well. I also enjoyed the scene where both demetrius and Lysander fall in love with helena because she was so convinced that they were mocking her when they were in fact in love with her.

lord of the rings and first midsummer blog

I especially enjoyed the council of Elrond chapter in lord of the rings because it gave alot of backround information and answered alot of questions I had. One big mystery I had was regarding Gandalf and why he was so long delayed in meeting Frodo. I did see the movie and knew about Saurumon turning to the dark side but the book explained it in so much more detail which made it so much better. I also enjoyed the chapter because it introduced all the characters I remembered from the movie which got me excited to read further. I also did not quite have an understanding of Arogorn and what he was to be king over, but after reaeding this chapter I further understand. I remember reading midsummer in middle school but have completely forgotten the story. So far in after reading act 1 I've enjoyed it I noticed how the characters of Hermia and Lysander resemble Romeo and Juliet and it really show how things were back then. Hermia really wants to marry Lysander but her father wants her to marry Demetrius and even though Lysander may be in many regards better then Demetrius, it is still to the say of the father. It seems very bold of Hermia and Lysander to run away together so I look forward to seeing what happens there.

weekly paragraph LOTR and Beowulf

What happened in LOTR was very interesting the Frodo and his friends stumbled across a misterious character named Tom Bombadil, I thought it interesting the way they described how Tom Bombadil was in middle earth for such a long time even before middle earth, and it was really interesting how he not only knew about the ring but was also not affected by it when Frodo handed it to him. The characters have now been led through the forest by Tom and told to travel to an inn titled the Prancing Pony.

As far as whats goin on in Beowulf, Beowulf has just defeated Grendels mother with a sword that ony Beowulf could use, since the sword given to him proved to be no match for that type of battle. After defeating grendels mother Beowulf brought back the head of Grendels moth which may lead you to believe that maybe Beowulf never killed grendels mother. Hrothgar awarded Beowulf many prized possessions for his brave acts and was saddened to see Beowulf go, but Beowulf knew his place was with the geats.

weekly english assignment beowulf

I have already read a version of beowulf in highschool but I have to say that so far I am enjoying Seamus Heaney version more. The book being very descriptive especially in the scene where Beowulf fights Grendel, makes me think just how cool it would be if they made another movie, but this time make it with real people and not animated and make Peter Jackson the director. Reading the book I cant help but notice how Beowulf resambles the greek hero hercules and think maybe that's where the original story teller got his or her inspiration.

first blog Lord of the Rings

throughout what I've read of lord of the Rings it became evident that the movie differs so much from the book. There is so much tremendous detail in the book and it leaves me guessing after every page. I'ts amazing to me to find out the number of years that go by in the book. The movie of course had to cut out alot but I didn't know it was to that extent. Thus far not much has accured in the book besides Frodo and his friends leaving the Shire, but I have a feeling that the story is about to get very interesting. It is still unclear about the where abouts of Gandalf, and the characters have just run into a misterious character named Tom Bombadil
